49 U.S. AI Startups Raise $100 Million or More in 2024

Venture investors pour billions into artificial intelligence this year, with 49 U.S. startups securing nine-figure rounds despite growing market fatigue.

Venture investors show no signs of AI fatigue as they pour billions into the sector, with AI companies capturing 28% of all venture funding in the third quarter alone. The fourth quarter continues this massive momentum, featuring seven separate AI funding rounds that exceed $1 billion in 2024. Elon Musk's xAI recently closes a staggering $6 billion round at a $50 billion valuation, following OpenAI's massive $6.6 billion raise just months prior.

December sees several massive deals that highlight the diverse nature of AI investment. Liquid AI secures a $250 million Series A round led by AMD Ventures, while Tractian raises $120 million for its machine intelligence platform. AI hardware company Tenstorrent stands out by closing a $693 million Series D round that pushes its valuation to an impressive $2.7 billion.

Other notable November deals include Enfabrica raising $115 million for AI networking chips and Writer securing $200 million for its generative AI platform at a $1.9 billion valuation. Physical Intelligence also joins the nine-figure club with a large Series A round for its foundational robotics software. Overall, a total of 49 U.S.-based AI startups successfully raise $100 million or more throughout this record-breaking year.
