Adani Commits $100 Billion to Build AI Data Center Ecosystem in India

Adani Group plans to invest $100 billion over the next decade to construct renewable-energy-powered AI data centers across India. The massive project aims to create a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem and reduce India's reliance on foreign technology.

Adani Group announces a massive $100 billion investment plan to build specialized AI data centers across India over the next decade. The company designs these facilities to run entirely on renewable energy as India pushes to become a major player in the global artificial intelligence race. This initial commitment aims to trigger an additional $150 billion in related investments to create a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem by 2035.

The conglomerate leverages its existing data-center platform and partnerships with tech giants like Google and Microsoft to execute this strategy. Adani is developing large-scale AI campuses in Visakhapatnam and Noida, with additional facilities planned for Hyderabad and Pune, while also expanding a partnership with Flipkart. Through its joint venture AdaniConneX, the company already develops about 2 gigawatts of data-center capacity and now plans to deploy up to 5 gigawatts to support these AI workloads.

This announcement arrives during India's AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where leaders from top AI companies like OpenAI, Nvidia, and Anthropic meet with policymakers. Adani chairman Gautam Adani states that India will not simply be a consumer in the AI age, emphasizing a long-term bet on the convergence of energy and computing. By scaling power generation and processing capacity in parallel, Adani aims to build a robust domestic AI infrastructure base powered by carbon-neutral energy.
