Major League Baseball teams are upgrading their batting practice with advanced robotics and artificial intelligence. The Trajekt Arc is a pitching robot that learns and recreates real-world pitches from actual players, offering a massive technological leap from traditional spinning-wheel machines.

Seven MLB teams currently use the Trajekt Arc to mimic specific pitchers, such as when the Chicago Cubs use it to simulate Madison Bumgarner's left-handed release point. A new partnership with sports data firm Rapsodo enhances this technology by allowing users to input specific pitch characteristics for the robot to replicate.

The combined system uses Rapsodo's PRO 3.0 to measure test throws and provide real-time feedback on speed, spin, movement, and strike zone location. This data-driven approach perfectly aligns with the modern, analytics-obsessed era of baseball, giving hitters an incredibly accurate simulation of upcoming opponents.
