Jasper, an AI content generation startup, raises $125 million in its first funding round led by Insight Partners. The new capital supports product development and the acquisition of grammar checker Outwrite.

Jasper, a startup developing an AI content platform, raises $125 million in its first funding round at a $1.5 billion valuation. The investment round is led by Insight Partners with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, IVP, Foundation Capital, Founders Circle Capital, Coatue, and HubSpot Ventures. This significant financial boost arrives as enthusiasm around AI text and image generators continues to grow rapidly across the tech industry.

The company plans to use the new capital to build out its core products, improve the customer experience, and integrate its technology into more applications. Part of this strategy involves acquiring Outwrite, an AI grammar and style checking startup with over a million users worldwide. Jasper intends to fold the Outwrite brand under its own umbrella and unify the two companies' offerings throughout 2023.

Jasper leverages AI models like GPT-3 to help businesses and professional creators generate blog articles, social media posts, and website copy. Customers simply describe what they want in natural language, and the platform produces targeted content designed to rank well in search engines or repurpose existing materials. Originally bootstrapped by CEO Dave Rogenmoser and his co-founders, the company now seeks highly strategic partners to build market-leading infrastructure in the generative AI space.
