Airbnb Acquires Danish Startup Gaest to Expand Into Meeting Space Bookings

Airbnb purchases Gaest, a marketplace for booking meeting and offsite venues, as part of its ongoing push into the business travel market. The acquisition allows the company to diversify its revenue beyond basic overnight stays.

Airbnb expands its business travel offerings by acquiring Gaest, a Danish startup that operates a marketplace for booking meeting and offsite spaces. The platform currently features around 3,000 venues, ranging from hotels to co-working spaces, available for hourly or daily rentals. Gaest's founders and team join Airbnb and report to the president of Homes, Greg Greeley.

This strategic move builds directly on Airbnb for Work, a program that already sees 700,000 companies using the service for employee business travel accommodations. By adding dedicated meeting and event spaces to its portfolio, Airbnb diversifies its revenue streams beyond basic overnight stays in private homes as the company approaches a highly anticipated initial public offering.

The financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, although Crunchbase reports that Gaest previously raises $3.5 million in funding. For now, the Gaest platform continues to operate independently while Airbnb explores how to integrate these unique professional spaces into its broader vision for workplace belonging.
