Alphabet Posts Record $65.1 Billion Q3 Revenue Driven by Cloud and Ads

Alphabet reports a massive 41% year-over-year revenue increase for the third quarter of 2021, reaching $65.1 billion. The financial growth highlights strong performances across YouTube ads, Google Cloud, and hardware sales.

Alphabet announces $65.1 billion in revenue for the third quarter of 2021, marking a significant 41 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The tech giant reports an operating income of $21 billion and a net income of $18.94 billion, reflecting a strong financial recovery as industries return to normal. CEO Sundar Pichai attributes this growth to the company's ongoing AI-first strategy and the successful rollout of products like the Pixel 6.

Specific divisions show impressive gains during the July to September timeframe. YouTube ad revenue climbs to $7.2 billion, up from $5.04 billion a year prior, while Google Cloud reaches $4.99 billion in revenue. Additionally, Google's other revenues, which include hardware and the Play Store, grow to $6.75 billion as digital transformation and hybrid work continue to drive demand for the company's services.

Despite the widespread profitability, Alphabet's "Other Bets" division continues to struggle financially. The segment generates $182 million in revenue primarily through Verily and Fiber, but it simultaneously posts a operating loss of $1.29 billion. CFO Ruth Porat emphasizes that these consistent investments support long-term growth, even as the company prepares to discuss these quarterly figures in detail with investors.
