Amazon cancels its plans to build a massive second headquarters in Long Island City, Queens. The company states that a successful headquarters project requires positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials. Despite this major cancellation, Amazon insists it has no plans to search for a replacement city and moves forward with its previously announced locations in Northern Virginia and Nashville. The company still maintains over 5,000 employees across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Staten Island, and plans to continue growing those existing teams rather than expanding into Queens.
