Amazon is developing its own true wireless earbuds to rival Apple's popular AirPods, according to a new report from Bloomberg. These upcoming earbuds serve as Amazon's first wearable device featuring built-in Alexa support, allowing users to activate the virtual assistant completely hands-free.
The device features a design similar to AirPods and includes a dedicated charging case. However, Amazon reportedly focuses on delivering better audio quality than Apple, directly addressing a common criticism of the AirPods lineup. In addition to voice commands, the earbuds offer gesture controls for managing music and handling phone calls.
Amazon's hardware division, Lab126, leads the project and actively searches for manufacturing partners despite facing previous development delays.
