Amazon Prime Video Introduces AI-Powered Recaps to Prevent Spoilers
Amazon launches X-Ray Recaps, a generative AI feature on Prime Video that creates spoiler-free summaries of TV shows. The tool is currently in beta for U.S. Fire TV users.
Amazon introduces X-Ray Recaps, a new generative AI feature for Prime Video that creates concise summaries of TV shows without revealing spoilers. The tool expands on the existing X-Ray function and allows viewers to catch up on seasons, episodes, or specific scenes safely. Custom AI models built with Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker analyze video, subtitles, and dialogue to generate these personalized summaries.
To use the feature, viewers navigate to a show's detail page and click a new rewind icon to choose from three options: recap the current episode, the entire season so far, or the previous season. Amazon implements strict guardrails to ensure the AI avoids generating any unwanted plot reveals. This allows users to refresh their memory on complex storylines or abandoned series without the anxiety of encountering spoilers.
X-Ray Recaps is currently in beta and available exclusively to Fire TV customers in the United States. At launch, the feature supports Amazon MGM Studios original titles like "The Boys," "The Wheel of Time," and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Amazon plans to roll out the AI summaries to additional devices later this year, following a similar recent move by rival Google TV.
