Amazon Q Business Expands Data Integrations and Third-Party Embedding

AWS enhances its Q Business AI assistant with broader data indexing capabilities and allows third-party platforms like Zoom and Asana to integrate its underlying data index directly into their own services.

Amazon unveils a series of significant updates for its Q Business AI assistant, focusing heavily on expanding data integrations and executing tasks across third-party applications. The service already indexes data from about 40 enterprise tools, but now it seamlessly connects with databases, data warehouses, and data lakes to provide more personalized and comprehensive results for users.

A major enhancement arrives in AWS' QuickSight business intelligence service, where employees now query this newly combined data to instantly generate charts and graphs. Additionally, Q gains the ability to perform actions on behalf of users across popular workplace platforms like Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Smartsheet, turning the assistant into a more active participant in daily workflows.

Perhaps the most notable update allows third-party services like Zoom, Asana, and Miro to embed Amazon Q Business directly into their own platforms through a new API. These partners tap into Q's canonical data index to power their own AI features, enabling users to find relevant external documents and kick off cross-app workflows without ever leaving their primary workspace.
