Amazon Targets Industrial Sector With New Predictive Maintenance Tools
Amazon unveils a suite of new cloud services at AWS re:Invent designed to bring modern predictive maintenance and monitoring capabilities to the industrial sector.
Amazon announces a variety of new services at AWS re:Invent that target the industrial sector, an area that often struggles to adopt cloud computing due to older equipment and proprietary systems. The flagship offering, Amazon Monitron, provides an end-to-end solution that uses sensors and machine learning to monitor industrial machinery and detect potential breakdowns before they happen.
By learning what a normal operational state looks like, Amazon Monitron identifies anomalies and alerts engineering teams via a mobile app so they can perform maintenance on their own schedule. For companies that already possess modern sensors but lack sophisticated machine learning capabilities, Amazon introduces Lookout for Equipment to ingest existing data and apply anomaly detection algorithms.
Amazon also unveils the Panorama Appliance for companies utilizing edge cameras that wish to apply more sophisticated computer vision models to their physical environments. Together, these tools show Amazon's push to solve complex data and hardware integration challenges for industrial manufacturers.
