AMD Brings Dedicated AI Processing to Desktop PCs at CES 2024
AMD unveils new Ryzen desktop and mobile processors at CES 2024, marking the first time a dedicated AI NPU appears in desktop chips. Major PC partners are also launching new Windows 11 laptops and handhelds featuring these AI-enhanced processors.
AMD unveils its new Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card and expands its desktop and mobile processor portfolios at CES 2024. Most notably, the company brings the power of a dedicated AI neural processing unit (NPU) to desktop PC processors for the very first time through Ryzen AI. This addition unlocks advanced AI capabilities to improve user productivity, energy efficiency, and collaboration.
The newly introduced AMD Ryzen 8000G Series desktop processors feature eight cores and 16 threads built on the speedy Zen 4 architecture. These chips optimize energy efficiency with low power draw while delivering impressive built-in graphics through Radeon 700M, providing a smooth 1080p gaming experience at an affordable price point. Additionally, AMD expands its Ryzen 5000 Series with four new processors led by the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, which utilizes 100MB of on-chip memory for significant gaming and application performance gains.
Major PC partners including Acer, ASUS, Lenovo, HP, and Razer are introducing new Windows 11 laptops and handheld gaming systems powered by the Ryzen 8040 Series processors. For graphics, the new Radeon RX 7600 XT features 16GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory to deliver fast, visually stunning 1080p gaming and raytracing experiences while unleashing user creativity in next-generation AI and content creation workloads.
