Anduril Raises $2.5 Billion to Reach $30.5 Billion Valuation

Defense tech company Anduril Industries secures a massive $2.5 billion funding round led by Founders Fund. The new capital supports the startup's expansion into military manufacturing and augmented reality programs.

Defense tech startup Anduril Industries raises $2.5 billion in a new funding round that brings its total valuation to $30.5 billion. Chairman Trae Stephens says the company needs a strong balance sheet to scale its manufacturing capabilities and tackle complex national security challenges. The funding doubles the company's valuation since August of last year.

Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund leads the investment by contributing $1 billion, marking the largest single check the venture firm ever writes. Since its launch in 2017 by Oculus creator Palmer Luckey, Anduril actively disrupts the traditional defense contractor market dominated by industry giants like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.

The fresh capital arrives as Anduril takes on major new military contracts, including a multibillion-dollar augmented reality headset program previously held by Microsoft. The startup also partners with Meta to develop virtual and augmented reality devices for the U.S. Army, a move Stephens describes as a meaningful reconciliation between Luckey and his former company.
