Anthropic Brings Claude AI Models to Microsoft Foundry and Excel
Anthropic and Microsoft expand their partnership by making Claude Sonnet 4.5, Haiku 4.5, and Opus 4.1 available in Microsoft Foundry. Enterprise users can also now leverage Claude directly within Microsoft 365 Copilot and Excel.
Anthropic and Microsoft expand their partnership by making Claude Sonnet 4.5, Haiku 4.5, and Opus 4.1 available in public preview within Microsoft Foundry. Azure customers can now build production applications and enterprise agents using these advanced AI models without leaving their existing Microsoft ecosystem. Developers can also utilize Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding agent, directly inside Microsoft Foundry to streamline their programming workflows.
Beyond Foundry, Claude powers new features across Microsoft 365 Copilot, including the Researcher agent for complex, multistep research and custom agent development in Copilot Studio. Microsoft's new Agent Mode in Excel now includes Claude as a preview option, allowing users to generate formulas, analyze data, identify errors, and iterate on solutions directly within their spreadsheets. This deep integration provides a seamless experience for office and data tasks.
This collaboration eliminates traditional procurement barriers by allowing enterprises to use their existing Azure agreements to access Claude models. The models are eligible for Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC) and deploy serverlessly through Foundry's APIs using Python, TypeScript, and C# SDKs. The Global Standard deployment rolls out today using standard API pricing, with a US DataZone release planned for the near future.
