Anthropic launches the Anthropic Economic Futures Program, a new initiative designed to support research and policy development regarding AI’s economic impacts. This program extends Anthropic’s existing Economic Index and aims to understand how artificial intelligence reshapes work while surfacing proposals to prepare for this global shift.
The initiative focuses on three main pillars: research grants that provide funding and API credits, evidence-based policy forums for policymakers and practitioners, and economic measurement through scaled longitudinal datasets. Anthropic emphasizes that these pillars build on each other, as better data enables better research, which ultimately informs better policy.
To kick off the program, Anthropic offers rapid grants of up to $50,000 for empirical research on AI's economic effects, with initial awards issued in mid-August. Additionally, the company seeks evidence-based policy proposals for upcoming Economic Futures Symposia in Washington, DC, and London, while actively pursuing strategic partnerships with independent research institutions.
