Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6 Arrives in GitHub Copilot
GitHub integrates Anthropic's newest Claude Opus 4.6 model into Copilot, bringing advanced agentic coding capabilities to Pro, Business, and Enterprise users.
Anthropic's latest AI model, Claude Opus 4.6, is now generally available within GitHub Copilot. The new integration focuses heavily on agentic coding, showing particular strength in tackling especially difficult programming tasks that require complex planning and tool calling.
The model is accessible to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise subscribers across a wide range of platforms. Users select Claude Opus 4.6 from the model picker in Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, github.com, GitHub Mobile, GitHub CLI, and the GitHub Copilot coding agent. The company notes that the coding agent feature remains limited to Pro and Pro+ accounts, while the overall rollout happens gradually.
Administrators managing Copilot Business and Enterprise accounts must manually enable the Claude Opus 4.6 model through their organization's Copilot settings policy. GitHub invites all users to explore the updated model options in the official documentation and share their feedback through the GitHub Community forums.
