Apple Brings AI Translation and Smart Widgets to watchOS 11

Apple reveals new AI-powered features for watchOS 11, including a standalone Translate app and smarter widgets. The updates leverage on-device machine learning to enhance the Apple Watch experience.

Apple introduces several AI-powered upgrades to watchOS 11, highlighting a new Translate app during its recent event. The app uses artificial intelligence for speech recognition and translation across multiple languages. Notably, users with the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra models can translate entirely offline because these devices have enough storage to hold up to 20 downloaded language models.

The update also brings improvements to Smart Stack, the feature that displays contextually relevant widgets on the watch face. With the help of AI, Smart Stack now automatically adds new widgets based on factors like the time of day and the user's location. This means the watch anticipates what information the user needs before they even ask for it.

In addition to translation and widgets, watchOS 11 includes a new "photos" watch face powered by machine learning. This feature automatically identifies and curates the best photos from the user's library to display on their wrist. Together, these AI enhancements make the Apple Watch a more proactive and capable device.
