Apple Debuts Ad-Free Arcade Gaming Subscription for iOS 13
Apple releases its new $4.99 per month Arcade gaming subscription service for iPhone users running iOS 13. The ad-free platform features titles from major developers and represents a major step in Apple's push to grow its services revenue.
Apple officially launches Apple Arcade, a new game subscription service that costs $4.99 per month and offers the first month free. The platform arrives as part of the iOS 13 update and gives iPhone users immediate access to a curated library of titles. Apple sends push notifications to users on Thursday to announce the debut of the service.
The gaming subscription expands beyond the iPhone to reach additional Apple devices in the coming weeks. Users access the games through a dedicated Arcade tab at the bottom of the App Store app. The service eventually supports iPads and Apple TV later this month, followed by Mac computers in October.
Apple Arcade features games from well-known publishers like Konami, Ubisoft, and Lego without any ads or in-app purchases. This subscription model serves as a key component of Apple's broader strategy to boost its services revenue. By offering exclusive, premium gaming experiences, Apple aims to increase its profits and make its iPhone ecosystem more attractive to customers.
