This upgrade represents Apple's ongoing effort to catch up to competitors like Google, whose Gemini Live feature already offers a highly natural talking experience that surpasses current Siri capabilities.
The redesigned assistant reportedly will fully replace the existing Siri interface that users rely on today. Apple plans to release this feature in the spring of 2026, creating an experience similar to OpenAI's Advanced Voice Mode while maintaining Siri's traditional access to personal information and apps.
Until this new LLM-powered Siri arrives, Apple relies on third-party companies to handle the iPhone's advanced AI features. OpenAI's ChatGPT becomes available inside Apple Intelligence in December, and Apple reportedly discusses similar partnerships with other AI providers like Google and Anthropic.
