Beyond stopping hardware sales, Apple restricts the apps for Russian state-backed news outlets RT and Sputnik so they remain visible only within Russia. Additionally, the company disables live traffic data in Apple Maps inside Ukraine to help protect citizens from potential danger.
This move aligns Apple with a growing list of major corporations distancing themselves from Russia. Other tech giants like Google, Facebook, and YouTube implement similar restrictions on Russian state media, while companies across industries like Shell, Disney, and General Motors also suspend their Russian operations.
