Developers still have time to test these artificial intelligence capabilities before the operating system officially launches to the public in September. The upcoming public beta versions will likely include these same features since they mirror the developer releases.
When these features finally arrive, they initially support only U.S. English and require specific hardware like the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or Mac and iPad models with an M1 chip or newer. Users gain access to tools that summarize text, prioritize notifications, and create custom emoji and images. Additionally, a significantly upgraded version of Siri offers richer language understanding, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls.
Even when iOS 18 reaches the general public, Apple considers this initial release a "preview" of its broader artificial intelligence vision. The company plans to add more features, expand language support, and extend compatibility to additional software platforms over the coming year. A complete rollout of all Apple Intelligence capabilities on the iPhone is not expected until 2025.
