Apple unveils a premium subscription service called Apple News+, which gives readers access to more than 300 magazines and newspapers for $9.99 per month. The service includes popular titles like Vogue, The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic, and TechCrunch's Extra Crunch, combining content that Apple says would normally cost over $8,000 annually.
The revamped app features a new design element called "Live Covers," replacing static images with animated artwork on the magazine rack. Inside the publications, readers navigate through a highly visual, beautifully designed interface that closely resembles the experience of using the popular digital magazine app Flipboard.
Apple CEO Tim Cook highlights that the company aims to provide a curated experience filled with trusted sources and expert journalism. While Cook notes that Apple News is the number one news app, this top ranking comes with the obvious advantage of the application being pre-installed on all iPhones and iPads.
