Apple Launches Combined Services Bundle to Boost Subscriptions
Apple rolls out its new Apple One subscription bundle, combining several of its digital services into a single monthly bill. The move aims to draw users away from competitors like Spotify while pushing the company's paid subscriptions past 600 million.
Apple introduces its new Apple One subscription bundle, offering users a simplified way to access multiple digital services through a single monthly payment. CEO Tim Cook describes the bundle as the easiest way for customers to enjoy Apple's ecosystem, which currently boasts 585 million paid subscriptions and expects to cross the 600 million mark before the end of 2020.
The individual plan costs $14.99 per month and includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage. A $19.99 family plan increases the storage to 200GB, while a upcoming $29.99 premiere tier adds Fitness+ and Apple News+ to the package. This bundled approach serves as a strategic push to convince subscribers to switch from rival platforms like Spotify over to Apple Music.
This launch highlights the growing importance of Apple's Services division, which recently reaches an all-time revenue high and surpasses half of the quarter's iPhone revenues. Although the new Fitness+ workout service is not quite ready for the initial rollout, its upcoming inclusion in the premiere tier rounds out a comprehensive digital package designed to lock users deeper into the Apple ecosystem.
