Apple One Bundles Launch to Reshape Mobile Subscription Market
Apple introduces its new Apple One subscription bundles, combining services like Music, TV+, and Arcade into a single monthly payment. The move highlights the massive growth of the app industry, which now sees record consumer spending and daily usage that rivals traditional television.
The app industry continues to experience massive growth as users spend an average of three hours and forty minutes per day on mobile applications. This daily usage now rivals traditional television, driving a record 204 billion downloads and $120 billion in consumer spending in 2019 alone. Mobile-first companies currently hold a combined valuation of $544 billion, proving that apps represent a major business rather than just a way to pass the time.
Apple expands its presence in this lucrative market with the launch of Apple One, a subscription bundle that combines several of its popular services. The Individual plan costs $14.95 per month and includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage. Customers can choose a $19.95 Family plan with 200GB of storage or a $29.95 Premier plan that adds Apple News+ and the upcoming Fitness+ service alongside 2TB of storage.
This bundled approach provides the most significant financial value at the higher-tier Premier level, which strategically benefits newer offerings like Fitness+. By attaching the new fitness service to established and trusted platforms, Apple easily acquires subscribers without directly competing against standalone fitness applications. As Apple continues to stretch into new service markets, the company leverages its massive existing install base to guarantee a steady influx of users.
