Apple officially opens pre-orders for the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, marking the debut of the smallest and largest iPhones the company ever produces. The iPhone 12 mini packs a 5.4-inch OLED display into a body that is physically smaller than the iPhone SE, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max boasts a massive 6.7-inch screen. Both devices start at $699 and $1099 respectively, and early buyers receive their new smartphones on November 13.
Despite their vastly different sizes, both models share core features like 5G connectivity, the A14 Bionic processor, and Ceramic Shield screen technology for improved drop durability. The iPhone 12 mini includes a dual-camera system with wide and ultra-wide lenses, bringing Night mode and Night mode Time-lapse to the front and ultra-wide cameras for the first time. Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Pro Max upgrades the camera experience with a larger wide sensor that provides an 87 percent low-light improvement, a LiDAR scanner for faster autofocus, and a 5x optical zoom range.
The Apple Store app is currently coming back online for users who want to place their orders. In a move citing environmental concerns, Apple no longer includes wired headphones or a power adapter in the boxes of these new devices.
