Apple officially announces its second virtual event in as many months for Tuesday, October 13 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The tech giant streams the presentation from Apple Park and is widely expected to use this stage to unveil its highly anticipated iPhone 12 lineup. Alongside the new smartphones, rumors suggest Apple may also introduce several other upcoming products during the presentation.
A major leak from a Weibo source reveals that all four iPhone 12 models feature OLED Super Retina XDR displays and a new "Ceramic Shield" glass screen. The entire lineup supports 5G connectivity, though only the U.S. models include the faster mmWave band, and all phones are capable of shooting Dolby Vision video. Additionally, a "Smart Data Mode" automatically switches between 4G and 5G to conserve battery life.
The leak also details a staggered launch timeline and pricing structure for the new devices. The two 6.1-inch models allegedly go up for pre-order on October 16 and launch on October 23, while the smaller 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and the larger 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max arrive in November with prices starting at $699 and $1099 respectively. Beyond the smartphones, a separate leaker claims a $99 HomePod mini is set to launch next month.
