Apple Prepares iPhone 11 Pro Reveal With Triple-Lens Camera

Apple hosts its September 10 event at Steve Jobs Theater to unveil the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The new flagship devices feature a major triple-lens camera upgrade and bilateral wireless charging.

Apple hosts its highly anticipated "By innovation only" event on Tuesday, September 10th at the Steve Jobs Theater. Viewers watch the live stream at 10 a.m. PT through Apple's website, YouTube, the Apple TV app, and select Apple Store locations. The spotlight shines directly on the upcoming iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

The biggest upgrade for the iPhone 11 Pro line is the new triple-lens camera system on the back. This setup includes a wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide-angle lens to capture a much larger field of view and improve augmented reality performance. A new Smart Frame feature captures the area around the framed image to allow users to adjust the framing or crop in post-production, while the front-facing camera jumps to 12MP and adds slo-mo video recording.

Beyond the camera enhancements, the new iPhones reportedly support bilateral wireless charging. This technology turns the back of the iPhone into a charging mat for other Qi-compatible devices, allowing users to charge accessories like AirPods while on the go. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo notes that Apple modifies the battery to accommodate this new feature.
