Apple Releases iOS 14 With Redesigned Home Screen and Widgets

Apple launches iOS 14 as a free software update, bringing the biggest Home Screen redesign in iPhone history. The update introduces customizable widgets, the App Library, and a compact interface for calls and Siri.

Apple releases iOS 14 today as a free software update that completely reimagines the iPhone experience with the biggest Home Screen overhaul ever. The update brings beautifully redesigned widgets in multiple sizes that users can place anywhere on their Home Screen pages to see timely information at a glance.

The new App Library automatically organizes all installed apps into one simple, easy-to-navigate view at the end of the Home Screen pages. Users can also choose a Smart Stack of widgets that uses on-device intelligence to display the most relevant information based on the time of day, location, and current activity.

iOS 14 also introduces a compact design for incoming FaceTime and phone calls as well as Siri interactions so users stay in the context of what they are doing. Additionally, Picture-in-Picture support allows users to watch a video or take a FaceTime call while simultaneously using another app.
