Apple Sets iOS 17 Launch for September 18 Alongside iPhone 15

Apple announces that iOS 17 will be available as a free download starting September 18. The company reveals this release date during its annual launch event, following a beta testing period that began in June at the WWDC event.
The software update brings significant changes to major iPhone apps like Phone, FaceTime, and Messages. Users will see video voicemails in FaceTime, enhanced search in Messages, and a new Standby mode that turns a sideways phone into a bedside clock. iPad users will also receive the update, which finally adds the Health app and expands widget functionality.
This software release accompanies the debut of the iPhone 15 lineup, which features titanium exteriors and USB-C charging across four models ranging from $799 to $1,199. Apple also introduces new Apple Watch models, including the Ultra 2 with 72 hours of battery life, with preorders opening Friday ahead of a September 22 retail launch.
