Apple Unveils 16-Inch MacBook Pro With Scissor Keyboard and Massive Upgrades
Apple replaces the 15-inch MacBook Pro with a new 16-inch model featuring a reliable scissor-switch Magic Keyboard and up to 64GB of RAM. The notebook boasts a larger display, enhanced audio, and a physical Escape key.
Apple introduces the highly anticipated 16-inch MacBook Pro, marking the return of a larger laptop size since the 17-inch model discontinued in 2012. This new notebook replaces the 15-inch MacBook Pro in Apple's lineup and features a larger 3072x1920 pixel display with slimmer bezels and up to 500 nits of brightness.
The most notable update is the return to a reliable scissor mechanism for the new Magic Keyboard, which replaces the widely criticized butterfly design and includes 1mm of key travel. The laptop also brings back a physical Escape key, separates the Touch ID sensor from the Touch Bar, and packs Intel's latest 9th-generation processors with up to 8 cores, 64GB of RAM, and 8TB of SSD storage.
Additional upgrades include AMD Radeon Pro 5000M graphics with GDDR6 memory, a larger 100Wh battery for extended life, a redesigned six-speaker sound system, and improved microphones. Priced starting at $2,399 in the United States, the 16-inch MacBook Pro is available immediately online and hits physical retail shelves later this week.
