Apple Unveils AirPods Pro With Noise Cancellation for $249

Apple introduces the AirPods Pro, a premium in-ear version of its popular wireless earbuds featuring active noise cancellation and a new ergonomic design. The upgraded headphones launch on October 30 and cost $249.

Apple officially announces the AirPods Pro, an upgraded version of its best-selling wireless earbuds that launches on October 30 for $249. The new headphones feature an in-ear design with interchangeable silicone ear tips, departing from the one-size-fits-all shape of previous models. This new form factor enables the inclusion of active noise cancellation technology, which uses outward and inward-facing microphones to adapt to the user's ear and filter out environmental noise 200 times per second.

To ensure optimal audio quality and noise isolation, Apple includes a software-based Ear Tip Fit Test that uses the built-in microphones to measure sound levels and confirm a proper seal. The earbuds also include an innovative vent system to equalize pressure and reduce the discomfort typically associated with in-ear headphones. Furthermore, the AirPods Pro carry an IPX4 rating, making them resistant to both sweat and light water splashes for active use.

Despite earlier rumors suggesting multiple color options like black and green, Apple offers the AirPods Pro exclusively in white. The larger in-ear design requires a redesigned charging case to accommodate the new shape. Alongside the noise cancellation, the earbuds feature Adaptive EQ for tailored sound and a Transparency mode that allows outside sounds to pass through so users remain aware of their surroundings.
