Apple unveils the Apple Watch Series 6, a $399 smartwatch that features a groundbreaking blood oxygen sensor to help users detect illnesses like the flu or COVID-19 earlier. The device also includes a faster S6 processor, an ultra wideband chip for unlocking cars, new color options, and a significantly brighter always-on display.
In addition to the flagship model, Apple introduces the more affordable $279 Apple Watch SE, which shares the improved display and altimeter of the Series 6 but omits the blood oxygen sensor and uses an older processor. By keeping the older Series 3 available for $199, Apple now offers consumers a comprehensive range of smartwatches at multiple price points.
Apple also surprises viewers by announcing Fitness+, a high-quality workout streaming service that integrates directly with the Apple Watch.
