Apple Unveils Four iPhone 12 Models With 5G and OLED Screens

Apple officially unveils four new iPhone 12 models, making 2020 the year the company embraces 5G connectivity across its entire lineup. The standard iPhone 12 and the new 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini both feature OLED displays instead of LCDs, bringing premium screen technology to the more affordable tier. Despite the smaller size of the mini, Apple retains the notch and Face ID system for secure authentication.
The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max offer significant camera upgrades for photography enthusiasts. The Pro Max stands out with a larger 1/1.7-inch main sensor and a 2.5x optical zoom telephoto lens, while both Pro models include a LiDAR scanner to improve autofocus in dark environments. Apple also introduces Dolby Vision HDR video recording and a new ProRAW format, choosing to stick with 12MP sensors rather than chasing higher megapixel counts.
A reimagined MagSafe system brings magnetically aligned wireless charging to the iPhone 12 family, doubling the charging speed to 15W compared to standard Qi. The built-in magnets also allow users to snap on various accessories like wallets and cases. However, Apple no longer includes a charger or headphones in the retail box, requiring users to purchase a 20W fast charger separately.
