Apple Unveils iOS 13, WatchOS Updates, and AppleTV Features at WWDC
Apple reveals major software updates at its annual developer conference, including a faster iOS 13, standalone Apple Watch apps, and multi-user support for AppleTV.
Apple kicks off its annual Worldwide Developer Conference with a massive keynote that highlights upcoming changes across its entire ecosystem. The biggest announcement is iOS 13, which brings a much-anticipated system-wide Dark Mode, a built-in swipe-to-type keyboard, and significantly faster app launch times. Additionally, the update cuts app download sizes in half and overhauls the Reminders app to provide more intelligent, context-aware alerts.
The Apple Watch receives substantial updates through the new WatchOS, shifting toward greater independence from the iPhone. Users can now browse a dedicated App Store directly on their wrists and run apps completely standalone. The update also introduces a health-focused noise detector that warns users of dangerous decibel levels, along with native cycle tracking, audiobook, and calculator apps.
Meanwhile, AppleTV gets highly requested features that improve both gaming and shared household use. The set-top box now supports Xbox One and PlayStation DualShock controllers to pair perfectly with the upcoming Apple Arcade subscription service. Furthermore, AppleTV finally introduces multi-user support, allowing family members to create individual profiles with tailored viewing recommendations instead of a single shared feed.
