Apple Unveils iOS 15 With Smarter Focus Tools and Shared FaceTime
Apple introduces iOS 15, bringing shared experiences to FaceTime, new notification management tools, and enhanced on-device intelligence. The update also includes major redesigns for Maps, Weather, and Safari.
Apple announces iOS 15, a major update that transforms the iPhone experience with powerful new features for connection and productivity. The update introduces SharePlay for FaceTime, allowing users to share screens, listen to music, or watch movies together during video calls. FaceTime also gains spatial audio, voice isolation to block background noise, and a portrait mode that blurs the video background.
To help users reduce distractions, iOS 15 introduces a new Focus feature that filters notifications and home screens based on what a user is currently doing. The system uses on-device intelligence to power Live Text, which recognizes text in photos and allows users to copy, paste, or look up information directly. Additionally, Siri, Mail, and other system apps receive new privacy controls to better protect user data.
The update brings significant visual and functional overhauls to several built-in applications. Apple Maps unveils immersive new ways to explore the world, while the Weather app is completely redesigned with full-screen maps and rich graphical data displays. Safari receives a simplified tab bar and Tab Groups for better organization, and the Wallet app expands to support digital home keys and state ID cards.
