Apple Unveils Larger iPhone 16 Pro Models With A18 Pro Chip
Apple introduces the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, featuring bigger displays, upgraded 48-megapixel cameras, and a powerful new A18 Pro chip designed for Apple Intelligence.
Apple reveals the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max at its latest event, showcasing larger 6.3- and 6.9-inch displays wrapped in grade five titanium. The new handsets feature the A18 Pro chip, which boasts a 16-core CPU and a GPU that delivers twice as fast ray tracing for gaming. Both models also include increased battery sizes, with the Pro Max offering the longest battery life ever seen in an iPhone.
The camera system receives a significant upgrade with 48-megapixel main and ultra-wide lenses, alongside a 5x optical quality telephoto camera. Users benefit from faster shutter speeds and a dedicated camera button that provides advanced controls for color grading. The phones also capture 4K video at 120 frames per second, allowing users to adjust slow-motion playback speeds after recording.
Audio recording sees major improvements with studio quality microphones and the ability to capture Spatial Audio. Users can switch between audio mixes post-capture to isolate specific sounds or reduce ambient noise. The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 and the Pro Max starts at $1,119, with preorders opening Friday ahead of a September 20 shipping date.
