Apple Unveils Vision Pro Headset and New Mac Hardware at WWDC 2023
Apple reveals its highly anticipated Vision Pro AR/VR headset alongside a larger 15-inch MacBook Air and powerful M2 Ultra Macs at its annual developer conference.
Apple kicks off WWDC 2023 by unveiling the Vision Pro, a long-awaited AR/VR headset that features advanced eye tracking and around a dozen cameras. The premium device costs more than $2,000 and directly challenges Meta's recently announced Quest 3 for dominance in the mixed-reality market. Apple states it has been developing this ambitious headset for years to create an entirely new computing paradigm.
Alongside the headset, Apple introduces a larger 15-inch MacBook Air that maintains the famously slim design of the 13-inch model. The company also updates its professional desktop lineup with the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, both powered by the high-performance M2 Ultra chip. These hardware releases demonstrate Apple's continued push to transition its entire computer lineup to custom silicon.
The keynote also highlights major software updates across the Apple ecosystem, including iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, and watchOS 10. These operating system upgrades bring new features and interface tweaks to iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches. Together with the new hardware, the announcements show Apple's strategy of tightly integrating innovative devices with its software platforms.
