Apple Upgrades AirPods With New H1 Chip and Hands-Free Siri
Apple introduces the second generation of its popular AirPods, featuring a custom H1 chip, extended battery life, and an optional wireless charging case.
Apple announces the second generation of its wildly popular AirPods, bringing significant upgrades to the world's most loved wireless headphones. The standout improvement is the new Apple-designed H1 chip, which is built specifically for headphones to boost performance and efficiency. This new processor enables a much more seamless experience for users across the Apple ecosystem.
Thanks to the H1 chip, the updated AirPods deliver 50 percent more talk time compared to the previous generation. Device switching is now twice as fast when moving between an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. Additionally, the new headphones feature hands-free "Hey Siri" support, allowing users to change songs, make calls, or get directions without needing to tap the earbud.
Customers have the option to purchase the new AirPods with either a standard charging case or a new Wireless Charging Case. The wireless case offers convenient powering options at home or on the go. Both versions are available to order immediately through Apple's website and app, with physical retail store arrivals starting next week.
