AppZen secures $50 million in Series C funding to expand its AI-powered finance automation platform. The startup now serves 1,500 enterprise customers, including Amazon and Nvidia, with its automated expense auditing technology.
AppZen raises $50 million in a Series C funding round led by Coatue Management to expand its AI-powered tools for finance departments. The round boosts the startup's valuation to $500 million, representing a massive increase from the $175 million valuation it achieved just under a year ago. With this latest investment, the company's total funding reaches just over $100 million.
The startup attracts major enterprise clients by using artificial intelligence to automatically audit employee expenses and ensure policy compliance. AppZen currently serves 1,500 large businesses, more than doubling its customer base of 650 from last October. Notable users of the platform include tech giants like Amazon, Nvidia, and Salesforce, as well as leading banks, media companies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
AppZen plans to use the new capital to extend its automation capabilities beyond expense auditing into other finance department functions. The company aims to tackle areas where finance teams evaluate corporate spending and manage billing across the business. CEO Anant Kale notes that finance departments have gone decades without significant technological innovation, presenting a massive opportunity for AI-driven solutions.
