Arize AI raises $19 million in a Series A financing round led by Battery Ventures to expand its machine learning observability platform. Previous investors, including Foundation Capital and Trinity Ventures, also participate in the funding round. Battery Ventures general partner Dharmesh Thakker joins the Arize AI board of directors as a result of the investment.
The company builds tools that help machine learning practitioners understand how their complex AI systems function in the real world. Without proper monitoring, undetected issues in these models disrupt business operations and create negative customer experiences. Furthermore, a lack of transparency leads to biased algorithms that fail to promote equity and protect individuals against discrimination.
Major companies like Adobe and Twilio already use the Arize AI platform to ensure their AI systems remain accountable and responsible. The startup's team consists of industry veterans from Uber, Google, and Apple who designed this full-stack solution specifically for data scientists and ML engineers. Co-founder Aparna Dhinakaran brings valuable experience from building Uber's first model lifecycle management system to guide the company's mission.
