Autonomous truck startup Plus raises $200 million in a Series B funding round to accelerate the global commercialization of its self-driving technology. The funding round features lead investors Guotai Junan International, CPE, and Wanxiang International Investment, along with participation from existing investor Full Truck Alliance. Plus plans to use this capital to build a robust sales and support network that helps commercial fleets integrate its automated trucking system across the United States and China.
Plus stands out in the crowded autonomous vehicle market by focusing heavily on real-world deployment and full-stack self-driving technology for large-scale commercial transport. The company achieves significant technical milestones, holding the first California Autonomous Vehicle Testing License granted to a driverless truck company and successfully completing the first cross-country commercial freight run in the U.S. with Land O'Lakes Inc. Co-founder and CEO David Liu emphasizes that this new funding helps address critical industry challenges such as trucking accidents and growing driver shortages.
The company moves toward mass production later this year with more than 10,000 self-driving trucks already pre-ordered by customers. Plus expects its automated driving system to be deployed in tens of thousands of existing trucks across the U.S., Europe, and China in the near future. Initial production of these self-driving trucks begins with FAW Group Corp., a Chinese state-owned automotive manufacturer, marking a strategic international rollout for the Silicon Valley-based company.
