Autonomous Vehicle Developers Drive Record $2.7B Robotics Funding in June

Robotics investments reach a 2024 high of $2.7 billion in June, largely driven by massive funding rounds for autonomous vehicle companies. The monthly total easily surpasses the trailing 12-month average and pushes the 2024 halfway mark to $8.4 billion.

Forty-eight robotics and enabling technology companies raise a combined $2.7 billion in June 2024, marking the highest monthly funding total of the year. This figure exceeds May's total by over $500 million and easily doubles the trailing 12-month investment average of $1.3 billion. Overall investments for the first half of 2024 now total approximately $8.4 billion.

Autonomous driving developers dominate the funding landscape by capturing the largest financial rounds. Cruise secures $850 million from General Motors to support its restarted on-road operations, while Aptiv brings in $816 million. Additional significant autonomous vehicle investments include $200 million for Waabi, $185 million for 42dot, and $54 million for Tier IV.

These five autonomous driving companies alone account for over $2.1 billion of the monthly total, leaving the remaining 43 companies to share the rest of the capital. Other funded sectors across the globe include humanoid robots, surgical systems, drone technologies, and robotic arms, highlighting a broadly healthy but highly concentrated investment ecosystem.
