AWS Unveils Amazon Q Assistant and Custom AI Chips at re:Invent

Amazon Web Services showcases a massive expansion of its artificial intelligence capabilities at the re:Invent 2023 conference, led by a nearly two-and-a-half-hour keynote from CEO Adam Selipsky. The headlining announcement is Amazon Q, a new generative AI assistant that brings intelligent automation across AWS cloud services for development, analytics, and daily operations. This new tool directly competes with similar AI assistant offerings from Microsoft and Google.
Selipsky details multiple new capabilities that are now generally available in the Amazon Bedrock generative AI model service, further solidifying the platform's foundation for enterprise AI. In a notable stage appearance, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang joins Selipsky to discuss the ongoing deep collaboration between the two tech giants regarding AI infrastructure.
Shortly after Huang's departure, Selipsky reveals AWS's own competitive Trainium 3 silicon designed specifically for AI training workloads. Throughout the presentation, the AWS CEO emphasizes that the company provides comprehensive support for the entire AI lifecycle, combining advanced custom chips, petabyte-scale networking, and powerful tools to help organizations build and deploy their own models.
