Berlin Startup LivingPackets Replaces Cardboard With Smart Reusable Box
LivingPackets introduces a high-tech, digitally locked alternative to cardboard boxes that aims to reduce shipping waste and modernize e-commerce logistics.
LivingPackets, a Berlin-based startup, tackles the massive environmental waste of e-commerce by replacing traditional cardboard boxes with a smart, reusable alternative called The Box. This innovative container features an E-Ink display, digital locks, and numerous sensors that allow senders and receivers to track and control their parcels in real time.
The company currently manufactures the second version of The Box and prepares to deploy hundreds of thousands of units across local distribution networks. Although the initial production cost exceeds that of a standard cardboard box, LivingPackets breaks even after a couple hundred uses because the durable design eliminates the need for constant replacement.
Beyond sustainability, this smart packaging solves major logistical frustrations by securing the physical transaction alongside the financial one. Users gain complete control over their deliveries, enabling them to update addresses on the fly, verify contents, and prevent theft or missed connections in an industry that otherwise lacks modern innovation.
