Canva Expands Beyond Graphics With Video Editing and App Marketplace

Canva introduces a beginner-friendly video editing tool alongside a new app marketplace featuring integrations with Google Drive and Instagram. The company also launches a free education platform to attract younger users.

Canva expands its platform significantly by introducing a built-in video editing tool designed for users with no prior experience. This new feature includes ready-made video templates, a stock content library with music and video clips, and simple animation tools to help anyone create polished videos quickly.

The company also launches Canva Apps, a new marketplace that allows developers to build directly on top of the design platform. Thirty apps are available at launch, featuring major integrations with Dropbox, Google Drive, PhotoMosh, and Instagram to streamline the creative workflow.

In addition to these product updates, Canva releases a free Canva for Education platform currently in beta with Australian schools that integrates seamlessly with GSuite and Google Classroom. Furthermore, CEO Melanie Perkins announces that Canva joins the 1% pledge, committing one percent of the company's equity, profit, time, and resources to charitable causes.
