Celonis Expands Beyond Process Discovery to Automated Workflow Improvement

Celonis introduces new automated workflow tools that help companies fix inefficiencies instead of just finding them, starting with finance and supply chain applications.

Celonis moves beyond its roots in process discovery by launching automated workflow tools that actively fix operational inefficiencies. While the company previously focuses on showing businesses where bottlenecks exist, it now provides applications that solve these problems directly. This shift comes as customers demand solutions that go beyond simple visibility into actual process improvement.

The new tools connect directly to enterprise transaction systems like SAP and Oracle, a capability boosted by last year's acquisition of Banyas. Users simply state their business goals, such as preserving cash or paying on time, and the system analyzes enterprise processes to intelligently automate tasks around those objectives. These initial applications target the supply chain and finance departments.

In addition to the new applications, Celonis opens its internal development platform to third-party creators. This allows external developers to build custom applications on top of the Celonis system and share them in a new app marketplace. Furthermore, while this expansion involves automation, the company clarifies that its approach differs from Robotic Process Automation because it includes human stopping points within the workflows.
