The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is currently underway in Las Vegas, drawing more than 4,400 exhibiting companies and an expected 170,000 attendees. The massive tech event features over 250 conference sessions and serves as a launchpad for groundbreaking consumer products. Highlights from the first day include a $60,000 roll-up TV, a $500 5G-compatible smartphone, and an Alienware handheld gaming PC that closely resembles a Nintendo Switch.
Among the standout gadgets is Roland’s Go:Livecast, a $250 plug-and-play mini studio designed to transform smartphones into full broadcast setups for vloggers. This hardware gives content creators the ability to adjust audio levels and insert pre-recorded clips into their live streams through a simplified interface. Roland plans to release the Go:Livecast alongside its companion app at the end of January to capitalize on the massive livestreaming market.
Automotive technology also takes center stage at this year's event, with Sony revealing a surprise autonomous vehicle concept. Panasonic counters with a unique miniature, battery-powered prototype fire engine, demonstrating how tech companies expand beyond traditional consumer electronics. These diverse announcements reflect the show's broad scope, continuing a long legacy of debuted milestones that stretches back to the VCR in 1970.
