Chinese artificial intelligence startup SenseTime raises $600 million in a Series C funding round led by e-commerce giant Alibaba. This massive investment breaks the record for the largest venture capital deal in the AI industry. Other notable backers in this round include Chinese retailer Suning.com and Singaporean state wealth fund Temasek.

The company currently holds a valuation reportedly higher than $3 billion and provides highly advanced facial-recognition technology. Its client list features major global tech players, including state-owned China Mobile, smartphone maker Huawei, and American chipmaker Nvidia. SenseTime also maintains strategic partnerships with Honda for autonomous driving and Qualcomm for smart technology algorithms.

SenseTime plans to use the new capital to expand its AI platform, accelerate technological innovation, and build a larger global ecosystem. This funding push aligns directly with the Chinese government's ambitious goal to make the country the world leader in artificial intelligence by the year 2030.
