Codeium Reaches Unicorn Status With $150M Series C Raise
AI coding startup Codeium hits a $1.25 billion valuation after securing $150 million in Series C funding. The company plans to use the capital to expand its engineering team, scale enterprise operations, and advance its developer tools.
Codeium secures $150 million in a Series C funding round that pushes its valuation to $1.25 billion, officially making the company a unicorn. The investment is led by existing investor General Catalyst, with notable participation from Kleiner Perkins and Greenoaks. This major financial milestone reflects the rapid growth the startup achieves with a tightly knit team of just 80 employees across engineering and business departments.
The AI-powered coding assistant boasts impressive user metrics as it expands its market reach. Its free individual user base skyrockets to over 700,000 active users in less than two years, while its paid enterprise product generates eight figures in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in under a year. Furthermore, Codeium increases its overall ARR by more than 500 percent since the beginning of the calendar year.
Codeium views this funding not as an ultimate milestone but as an enabler to dream bigger and invest heavily in future innovations. The company plans to use the fresh capital to strengthen customer partnerships, scale the organization, and advance research and development. Ultimately, Codeium aims to become the default AI assistant for all software developers, regardless of their tech stack or level of experience.
