U.K.-based construction tech startup Disperse raises $16 million in funding for its artificial intelligence platform that helps project managers track work on building sites. The company effectively creates a digital version of an entire construction site by sending someone to capture 360° imagery at regular intervals, which the platform then processes using computer vision techniques.
The Disperse platform analyzes these visual snapshots to determine the exact state of a project at any given moment, helping resolve disputes over whether a job is completed correctly. Additionally, the system automatically highlights potential problems or bottlenecks while there is still time to fix them, combining drawings, plans, and schedules into one centralized digital hub.
Founder and CEO Felix Neufeld notes that the construction industry's reputation for inefficiency stems from a lack of truly effective digital tools rather than an unwillingness to adopt new technology. He explains that many construction companies are eager to try new solutions but often end up with abandoned or "zombie" software that adds burdens instead of delivering real value.
